Design wise, the iPhone 14 models are going to appearance loads just like the iPhone 13 models, however with a first rate exception there`s now no longer going to be an iPhone 14 mini. Instead, Apple is making 6.1-inch iPhones (iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro), in along with 6.7-inch iPhones (iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max).

The company was more than happy to spread announcements across events, in the two+ years when everything suddenly went online. The simple truth is it’s a lot easier to ask people to drop everything to cover your event.

When it involves sitting in front of a computer instead of flying across the U.S. This one, on the other hand, is most likely going to be worth the flight (I mean, I hope — no refunds on the tickets).

There are three big features expected in the 14 Pro and Pro Max: an always-on display (a feature Android phones have had for years); a 48-megapixel rear camera with a larger sensor; and a screen that gets rid of the notch in favor of smaller camera cutouts.

Speaking of the cutouts, a report from MacRumors indicates the camera and speaker will have separate cutouts when the screen’s turned off but will form one long pill shape when it’s powered on.

A tipster told 9to5Mac that Apple will use the extra space between the two cutouts to more prominently display the privacy indicators for the camera and microphone, which users may be able to tap into for more information about what’s currently accessing them.

9to5Mac also said Apple may optimize its Camera app for its Pro devices by shifting some of its controls, like the flash and autofocus button to the top of the screen, with others housed directly beneath the cutout.

IOS 16 also lets you unsend or edit iMessage text messages, as long as you catch them within a few minutes of sending.

IOS 16 will also introduce short-term loans from Apple called Apple Pay Later. The feature will allow users to buy stuff online with Apple Pay but pay for the item in four installments without paying interest.

One cool feature in iOS 16 is if a user has both an iPhone and a Mac laptop or desktop, they can use the iPhone as a very high-definition web camera.

The camera specifications of this upcoming phone are really impressive. On the front, the mobile is expected to feature a Dual camera setup on the rear. The Pro models are also expected to get upgraded A16 processors and cameras. The camera bump is expected to get larger.

It will have 12 MP + 12 MP cameras that will let you click some mesmerising pictures. And, on the front, the phone is touted to sport a 12 MP + SL 3D camera for clicking selfies and making video calls.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a iPhone event without some mention of camera improvements, and to that end, a stepped-up wide-angle lens(Opens in a new window) could be in store.

We’re not sure what colors Apple will launch the iPhone 14 in, but we’re hopeful that there’s a green model, because the iPhone 13 looked great in that particular hue.

Rumors have also been swirling about the iPhone 14 coming with satellite connectivity, something users can take advantage of in emergency situations without cellular service.

Satellite connectivity was rumored for the iPhone 13 last year, and in February, satellite company Globalstar acquired 17 new satellites “to provide continuous satellite services to the potential customer,” which some speculate is Apple. The “Far Out” event branding could also hint at this possibility.

We first heard about iOS 16 when Apple announced it in June, and we have a pretty good idea of what to expect based on what we’ve seen from the public beta.

Gurman says Apple wrapped up development last week, and the company is likely to launch a finalized version of iOS 16 within about a week of its iPhone 14 event.

iOS 16 brings a number of new features, including the ability to edit and unsend messages as well as a customizable lock screen. It also introduces repositioned notifications that appear at the bottom of your lock screen and a Live Activities.

Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman has been reporting that Apple will introduce three new Apple Watch models in 2022, which he’s calling the most important update for the watch in years.

These watches could be unveiled at the Apple September Event. The Apple Watch Series 8 will get at least a new body temperature sensor and a better battery life.

The Apple Watch SE will likely see a second generation while Apple is also readying a rugged “Pro” version of the current watch with a different design and premium finish for extreme sports.

The AirPods Pro haven’t received an update since their initial launch in 2019. Now, nearly three years later, we may finally see the release of the AirPods Pro 2.

First off, expect them to look different. The new AirPods Pro may resemble the Beats Fit Pro, potentially with an in-ear wing tip design that drops the stem. They could also have a focus on fitness tracking thanks to the potential for upgraded motion sensors.

Kuo also hinted at the possibility of the AirPods Pro supporting lossless audio, allowing for higher-quality sound. This would also make the AirPods Pro 2 the first model to use the Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) — even the high-end AirPods Max don’t support it.

If the AirPods Pro 2 do end up supporting the Apple Lossless Audio Codec, it’ll be interesting to see how Apple manages to get around the limitations of Bluetooth, which generally requires compressing audio quality.

With a similar design to the current generation, 9to5Mac sources confirmed that the next AirPods Pro model – code-named B698 – will feature the next version of the H1 chip, Apple’s own audio processor.

In addition, references for LC3 codec support on the AirPods Max beta firmware tease that AirPods Pro 2 could be the first to add Bluetooth 5.2 support.

That would present a fairly dramatic change to the device’s controls. Another interesting potential item is the addition of sound for the case, which can chime to work better with the Find My feature.

New Macs and iPads could be coming a bit later

Apple is unlikely to release new iPads next week because their software isn’t ready yet. Earlier this month, Apple told TechCrunch that iPadOS, the iPad software, will ship after iOS this fall, suggesting a staggered release.

Apple’s statement was terse, and the company dislikes talking about unannounced products. But in general, it likes to release new hardware together with new software, so the statement clearly suggested that new iPads would come at a later launch date than iPhones.

IPadOS and iOS are very similar, but this year iPadOS is getting a feature called Stage Manager that could allow users to multitask more efficiently — but also got panned by early testers.

Improved iPads could include more powerful processors that are closers to laptop processors, smoother displays and better integration with accessories.

Apple is also expected to introduce several new Macs and at least two iPads in 2022. While the company unveiled a new MacBook Pro in October, Apple could be readying another keynote a month later to bring new Macs and iPads.

Meanwhile, iPads may appear, including an M2 iPad Pro model, but the consensus appears to be that the company will throw one more final event ahead of the holidays,

where we’ll also get new Macs sporting the latest chips, incluing the long-awaited — and much redesigned — return of the Mac Pro. I wouldn’t rule out either one entirely for this event, but they’re less certain than the above.

The AR/VR headset is the true wildcard in all of this. Rumors have persisted for some time, and have only gotten hotter as the company has applied for trademarks including, “Reality One,” “Reality Pro” and “Reality Processor.”

It’s also already said to have shown off a version of the headset to shareholders. At best, a preview could arrive, in order to entice developers to start building for the product.

What we expect from Apple’s iPhone 14 event

Apple will hold its iPhone 14 event on September 7, a Wednesday. The invitation teases an in-person event at the Steve Jobs Theater, although Bloomberg has reported a few weeks ago that Apple was already recording its keynote.

With an earlier announcement, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple wants to report a stronger Q3, in addition, to avoiding supply constraints, as you can learn more about it here.

A couple of odds and ends:

a. The return of the HomePod? We’re talking something potentially similar to the original, full-size model and, perhaps a product with a display, à la the Nest Hub or Echo Show. Apple really needs a proper hub for HomeOS.

b. A new Apple TV.

c. Release dates for iOS 16 and watchOS 9 seem likely. We know we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the new iPadOS. And macOS Ventura could seemingly arrive during this event, but a safer bet is the aforementioned unannounced October event.

The “Far Out” message could mean that the company is aiming at an astrophotography feature or even the long-awaited satellite communication support. We’ll know in less than two weeks.
